HARIO’s Skerton series has long been a favourite among home baristas and specialty coffee aficionados for its simplicity, durability, and the clean, sharp grind profile provided by its conical ceramic burrs. Each version — Skerton, Skerton Plus, and Skerton Pro — is crafted to meet different needs while maintaining HARIO’s core quality values.

Classic Skerton
The base Skerton mill is the original configuration, offering a no-frills, reliable manual grinder. Built with large ceramic burrs, it keeps operating heat low, preserving the aroma and flavour integrity of your beans. Although it doesn’t have some of the refinements of later models, its simplicity makes it accessible and effective for beginners or anyone who prefers a very straightforward design.

Skerton Plus
The Skerton Plus upgrades on the original by adding a burr stabilising plate, which helps reduce wobble during grinding. This means more uniform particle size, which is essential for balanced extraction. The Skerton Plus holds up to 100 g of ground coffee.
The body uses a combination of stainless steel (for the handle and adjustment nut), polypropylene (for the hopper), and a heat-proof glass grounds jar.

Skerton Pro
The Skerton Pro is the most refined model in the family. It features a reinforced hexagonal crank handle, a bottom-located grind adjustment knob (meaning you don’t have to disassemble the top to change grind size), and an internal burr spring that stabilises the grind setting for greater consistency.
Its hopper holds about 60 g of beans, while the glass grounds jar accommodates up to 100 g.
The dimensions are W 167 × D 95 × H 195 mm, making it a solid presence on the countertop but still portable.

Across all three models, HARIO uses conical ceramic burrs — prized for their longevity, resistance to rust, and ability to maintain consistent grinding performance. The grind size can be adjusted by turning a wheel (skerton/plus) or a bottom knob (pro), allowing you to dial in settings from fine (espresso) to coarse (French press). Both the Plus and Pro versions include parts that are washable: the burr section can be disassembled for rinsing, and the glass bowl is heat-resistant.

From a café owner, training lab professional, the Skerton Pro’s improved build — especially the handle and stabilisation — gives you more repeatable results and durability for regular use. For home baristas, the Plus model offers a strong balance between performance, portability, and value, while the classic Skerton remains an appealing, simple entry point to hand grinding.
